To Prepare Crust :

In a Food Processor grind the nuts until fine.

Press into cake tin using fingers until base is completely covered.

Place in the freezer until filling is ready.
Blend together filling ingredients until smooth and then spread on top of base. Freeze for a minimum of 3 hours. Good 2-3 days in fridge.

and there you have it!! Strawberry Pie. ;-)

It was delicious!!

Why Raw and Living Foods?

When I'm eating raw and living foods I feel fresh and alive - just like the food. This addition has improved my health, my energy levels and my overall well-being. Eating foods as close to the way God created them for optimum health - it just makes sense. Ive been slowly increasing the amount of raw foods into my diet over the last year. Smoothies and juices and salads were a given for a couple of years now; but Ive truly never felt so good as when I'm eating high raw. So now my diet is about 60 per cent raw.
I don't consider this a diet...when I use this term I use it quite liberally because I don't want it to imply any type of sacrifice that has to be undertaken. Eating raw has nothing to do with giving ANYTHING up, in fact its all about letting the goodness IN!! This is a gift, its a very rewarding, self-empowering healing gift.

TO KNOW WHAT YOU PREFER...instead of humbly saying Amen to what the world tells you you ought to prefer, is to have kept your soul alive. - Robert Louis Stevenson.

So....Whats new?

Yes, its been quite a while...Ive been super busy in the kitchen!...just completed my raw food chef training by Russell James and since then Ive felt truly inspired and motivated. Ive been making all manner of things raw...and having a blast! Russell has a great way of braking things down into bite size pieces (pardon the pun) parceled into easily digestible nuggets of wisdom!! He is truly gifted and makes everything he creates look absolutely divine!
I'm experimenting with making raw cakes at the moment..playing around with different flavours and they are GOOD! just need to get them looking a tad more presentable and they will be flying out of the fridge. All of a sudden friends and family just happen to be in the neighbourhood!!!...mmm I'm loving this new found skill...i'm visiting catering shops and kitchen stores and investing in new utensils...and still praying for my de-hydrator and vitamix...mmmmm...

Introducing my new love -Maca Magic......yayyyyyy!

Ive been trying to upload a video for you guys demonstrating how to make my most perfect Maca Nut Mylk... so you'll have to watch this space...one day soon....I promise!!

Maca is a radish like root that grows in Peru. Its a nutrient dense wholefood and contains 10% protein, 60% carbohydrate and full of fatty and amino acids, phyto-nutrients, vitamins and minerals trace.
Maca has been used for thousands of years as a stress-fighting adaptogen and is famous for its amazing health benefits and used to boost, energy, strength, libido, sexual function and fertility in both men and women. It's a natural viagra with no side effects and it's said to relieve symptoms of menopause within days.
The Peruvian root works gradually, not instantly. You need to eat Maca continually to receive the full benefits.
Maca balances the body's systems: it'll raise low blood pressure and lower high blood pressure as needed. Maca boosts immunity and harmonizes the body's overall vitality. Continous use is best advised as it does work slowly.

Im so in love with Maca...it really works well for me. It helps me to feel good with its amazing way of balancing the hormones. Maca is an adaptogen so it feelers around the body and levels off all what is out of whack! For example: it'll raise low blood pressure and lower high blood pressure as needed. Maca works great in a smoothie, you may also use it in shakes and tea, and raw granola.
In my smoothies I'll add it with Mesquite which is a natural mild sweetner. You may also use it in shakes and tea, and raw granola. The two give off a real balanced taste in my smoothies without spiking my blood sugar levels.
Maca boosts my energy levels and helps me to fuel this hectic lifestyle! Its my magic formula...with which I wouldn't be without!

Taking the Path Less Trodden.....

Has certainly been an emotional one to say the least!....I find the more raw I introduce into my body the more my body zings! Infact, I feel much more intune with my body than Ive been in a long while. I love this feeling.
Since the JF Ive been more or less following the same flow of Green smoothie for brekkie and lunch, or sometimes a superfood smoothie for lunch and dinner a raw soup or salad. Twice a week I'll have a lightly steamed dinner of wholefoods usually Quinoa or squash or sweet potato....with a raw salad or veg.

I certainly feel much different now to that when I was juice-feasting! ...well, for starters I feel heavier for the obvious reason that I'm eating and Ive managed to put on a few more pounds although I have faith that my body will balance the weight out within 3 months. I'm not in a rush with it, its more important for me to feel great within myself, and the rest is peanuts! and by that I mean to feel fully nurtured, alive, sleeping right, balanced moods, energetic, powerful digestion, and to be grateful!.... :-). Ive also gotton real organised with my office and have been so creative in the kitchen!...I will post up some pics of recent developements there!

None of my friends eat this way but..they will...joke....I just want to be the change that I want see in this world and can hopefully encourage others to do the same in whatever way they shine! I plan on inviting my family over for a raw dinner party, schhh...dont tell them...its as soon as the de-hydrator arrives!..

Juice Feasting and Beyond

Ive started a 10 day Journey to Raw Program. Today is day 7 and its going really well. The recipes make really delicious meals and I still dont feel any real intense hunger. Since doing my 3rd JuiceFeast my body now responds a little different to hunger. Intrinsically the body craves nutrition and not specific junk foods. So we will receive the message or signal that we are hungry...and in most cases we are just thirsty! (Which is a whole other story)!
To the best of my knowledge since the JuiceFeast I've had all if not most of my nutritional needs met. So far Ive not craved for a single food type in particular. :-) I plan on seriously introducing more raw foods into my diet and having a high raw one at that!
I'm working on a new web-site, and will continue my classes very soon. Lots of new goodies in the pipe-line. In the mean-time I will keep this blog updated.

Never Under-estimate the Power of a Juice-Feast!

Oh my gosh....this last Juice-feast was completely different from the first one I did in 2008. At first I thought this was due to me getting older, developing bad habits, etc. Now, I'm sure its the classic 'onion peeling effect' that happens to you once you start any detox for an extended period of time. If you are like me and are always looking for positive growth and want to learn something new about yourself and the environment, then you will understand completely what I am saying.
I made my goals clear to myself at the outset of my Juice Feast. I wrote them down and even hung them in parts of the house where I would see them daily. Just to spur me on. It is imperative that you really know the reason(s) why you are doing what your doing! Ensure that your reasons speak directly to the center of your heart..and truly ask and ask again. So when your emotions do come up for you, you will be in a place to acknowledge them and fully appreciate that they are yours!

 The Emotional Detox....

This is the most important thing you need to know!!!

When you start to eat raw, you will FEEL better on every level. Your heart and mind opens up to the universe; but on the other side of the coin you will often find yourself sitting back, watching your life on the big screen and the truth is that you are! You actually SEE very clearly exactly what is NOT working for you.....Hmmmmm

So, Congratulations I say to myself! Now you've given birth to another part of you that may have laid dormant for years un-manifested for years....the question is ....What will YOU do with all this new found information?!

Waking up to this fact can be painful – too painful sometimes.....this is when you would dive into the cookie jar and remember cravings that you thought were long gone!...BE Careful!

I will be forever grateful that my stuff is now in the light and has come up for me to deal with, and to be honest its well overdue!!...No more excuses! I've had to climb a huge mountain in terms of my own health over that last two years; and now that I FEEL better I can DO better!
Consuming raw for me feels like such a pleasure, it makes my heart sing and my blood tango!...it makes me feel good....and makes me want to do GOOD!... :-)
Even my boyfriend is turned on to raw now! He loves my green juices and nut-mylks and his superfood smoothie...on the same vybe!...I love it! He is reaping the benefits of increasing raw into his diet. No more afternoon slug-time....No more dead beat tiredness in the evening....better digestion....much more energy!

As for me...well this Juice-Feast was my chance to begin again...as that is ultimately what we do best as Human Beings!

BEGIN AGAIN!

Day25-Fri

I ate another 2 meals of prunes today and drank the remaining prune juice...and still there are millions left! I seriously cant eat another morsel...lol I can safely say the prunes lived up to their namesake....and I still had an abundance of energy today.
I have good news for you all...Im starting a 10 day Journey to Raw Food Program which I've intrinsically timed to run straight after my juice feast to give me the jumpstart that I so need!
I'll have to start a day late as I'm still breaking my feast today, but since its the last day...I'll have a plain salad tonight, and I'll be ready to start in the morning!! Yayy....plus there are some really nice sounding recipes on the web-site so I'm super excited to get started!

I'll keep you posted.....

I had Blueberry and Apple.
Spinach, apple, fennel, celery.

Wednesday 8 September 2010

Day22-Weds

Hey!
I did it, I broke my Juice feast! I am in the process of trying to finish off 8 ounces of soaked prunes! I’ve managed to get down about half of the portion so far, It’s amazing how fast your stomach fills up after 22 days of nothing but liquids! I started with drinking the Juice which was really nice....yum and the prunes are very squidgy but also nice!
I want to give a heartfelt thanks to Angela Stokes for her thorough work in her Juice Feaster's Handbook and Ive adapted David Rain's Feast Breaking Protocol as follows:

If you have spent more than 24days, take 6 days to break your feast, spending two days on each section. For less days see David Rain's advice on www.juicefeasting.com

1) PRUNES
Break your feast with 8oz of organic prunes soaked overnight. This is a very gentle way to 'Jump-start' your digestion of solids again. Drink the soak water first, then eat as many prunes as you like. This is the only solid meal on the first day and a bowel movement will ideally follow after 3-6hours. (If not, use Cascara Sagrada-it is not desirable to leave this food sitting in your colon for too long. as it will begin to putrefy.)
For the second day of this phase, eat 1-2 meals of soaked prunes, preferably earlier in the day. Maintain the same amount of juices you consumed while feasting.
2) JUICY FRUITS
Continue with juices and soaked prunes meals, now adding in juicy fruits too, such as watermelon, berries, mangoes, cherries, tomatoes, cucumbers, oranges etc. Avoid denser fruits at this point, like bananas, avocadoes or durian. Try to have about half the amount of juice you were having whilst feasting-preferably keep drinking the green juices and cut back fruit juices now, as you start to eat fruits instead. Eat the juicy fruits as regular meals.
3) SALADS
The final stage is to begin to add in salads, while still having juices, prunes and juice fruits as suits you. Use tender leafy salad greens, sprouts and very simple dressing such as flax oil and lemon juice-avoid creamy dressing at this point. You can now begin to add in fatty foods like avocados and raw olives.

Now is also a good time to begin taking White Oak Bark and Ginger Root Capsules to shrink the colon, aid elimination and repair any prolapses, plus stone-breaker to help the body release any kidney/liver/gallbladder stones. You may also find it beneficial to begin taking the Ayurvedic remedy 'Triphala' now as powder for the next 6 months to a year, which works gently to rebuild peristalsis and tone the colon.

This has been an profound journey. I hadn't really decided how long I was going to feast for, I decided to go with the flow and to let my body tell me when that would be right. However, I had decided to break now due to several factors. The biggest factor was that my mind and heart was not fully into it anymore, my green juice was increasingly getting harder and harder to get down. I tried changing from Spinach to Kale and introducing more fruit juices, which worked well for a while but amazingly I started to miss my green juice... and ironically once I'd made it...guess what?.....yup i didn't want it!!! lol
So then, the timing was spot on for me. So for the past week I just drank what I could and observed...Finally my body told me that it was time to end it. I realized I also missed crunching and biting food, the juice was just not cutting it any longer!...
So..... here I am, in this 3 day transition back into the real world. It feels a little strange...The plus side is that I will still be juicing and blending my fruits and vegetables forever more, obviously not the same quantity and when blending I will keep the fiber in.!!

If you have been JFeasting for less than 24 days, divide the number of days feasted by 4. This is the number of days you will take to break the feast. Then divide that number by 3 to see how many days you will be taking for each phase of the Feast breaking. (E.g. if you have juiced for 12 days, you divide 12 by 4  to find that you will break your Feast over 3 days. So, you would take 1 whole day for each step of the Feast-breaking protocol.) So go and celebrate...you deserve it!

Right now I feel immense gratitude to myself for all the love and attention I've allowed myself to accept over the last 3 weeks....I feel happy and very loved. Juice Feasting takes a whole lot of discipline and determination and I whole-heartedly encourage you to GO FOR IT!....its not always easy but the sheer challenge is what kept me going to be honest with you.
As a whole You are ultimatley always in control and will always be respnsable for your life!! JF helps to open your heart chakra so many truths are revealed to you along your journey...there are many uncovered gems that are out there for the taking you just have to raise your vibration level high enough to be able to see them clearly! Get Juicing..... sip sip

Please check back in for post-feast highlights, pics and more!!

Day22-Tuesday

Today I consumed:
1)Pineapple,lemon,agave,ginger,water (delicious)
2)Celery,cucumber
Ive been feeling slightly out of sorts on and off over the last 3-4 days.
I understand that by taking the diet down to the bare minimal, as in just supplying the body with sufficient nutrients to operate on a normal basis; it is very likely that one will experience massive shifts on an emotional and spiritual level whilst Juice Feasting. The cells in the body hold a lot of history about ourselves such as repressed emotions and trapped feelings.
At times I've felt very light and free and at other times I've felt more heavier. as I move deeper and deeper into my cleanse I've felt sadness, anger, frustration and even depression. My advice to you guys is to ensure that you have a good support system around you, also try to indulge in some serious TLC. Bodyscrubs and massage, watch a funny movie, surround yourself with nature. Remember this is all to be expected whilst taking on a JF or any fast of this kind.

This morning I had a dry bodyscrub, Oh! my skin felt so very soft afterwards, and lets not forget its gr8 for detoxing the skin whilst doing a cleanse. Then I had a shower switching inbetween hot and cold water to help the lymph system. This is what David Rain had to say,
"This is a great method for moving blood and lymph, tightening skin and improving circulation. Like skin brushing, it can seem rather harsh in the beginning, but if you stick with it, you may start to find the sensation quite enjoyable. Shower as usual, then alternate the water temperature between hot and cold, staying with each temperature for five seconds at first before switching to the other and alternating perhaps five times between hot and cold in the beginning. You can later build up both the anount of time you spend on each temperature, and the number of times you alternate. Try to end on cold though, so that your skin remains tightened up."

Day 21-Mon

I awoke up this morning to the sound of the rain....yes it rained the entire day!...the sound of the rain was very very soothing. Autumn is here. :-)

Today I consumed:
Kale/Celery/Cucumber/Spinach/lemon/green pepper/Garlic
Fennel/Apple/Carrot/Celery/Ginger
Water + Msm
Bee Pollen...mmm

Raw-ducation:
During this feast I am learning to love and respect my body even more than before. Ive learnt to be patient and observant with myself. Ive seen and felt the detox working for me. Sometimes more painful than others...I'll explain. I seem to have this wind type of movement that occurs every 3-4 days...very uncomfortable...I feel it in one of two places either along the top of my intestines or in my lower back...so its interesting to know that even after 20 days there are still deeper levels of cleansing to be done.I usually drink fennel and lemon tea or peppermint tea to soothe my intestinal track. My hot water bottle and a lot of TLC!! lol

Tips: Fennel is great with apple and carrot !  I love fennel it adds a smooth finish to your juice. Its a great duretic and is good for digestive disorders.
Movement:
I managed an hour of Rodney Yee's Power Yoga. Yoga + A Raw food Diet/Juices =Heaven. The two compliment each other very well, Yoga helps to expand and strengthens the body and drinking raw vegetable and fruit juices also expands the body and opens the mind.
Ive been having little thoughts about ending the juice-feast...not sure where its coming from..but finding it hard to fancy green juice at times...and even thinking about eating, for the 1st time in ages..I'm not craving anything in particular, and my day is pretty much full but I find myself spending more and more moments out of this feast....plenty observation me thinks....and some time out in meditation!

Sunday 5 September 2010

Day18/19/20...Fri,Sat,Sun

I had to include the last 3 days together as I went out for the entire day Fri and Sat and got back late in the night, and too tired to blog!..sorry guys....I know, MY BAD!..but I really was in need of some serious bed rest.

I left my house around 10am after making 3 quarts/litres of green juice, as today I was travelling in the raw!!  Well not really going anywhere exciting as in abroad or something...just going to get my hair plaited at my mum's. My hairdresser is kindly meeting me halfway between her salon and my house.Yayy!!

I made a new green juice and I totally fell in love with it. So I made 2 litres of it...heheheheh.
It was Bak Choy/squidge of lemon juice/celery/cucumber/pinch of salt/apple/....you know that feeling when you fall in love with something...well. its official I love Raw Bak Choy....! I encourage you to play around with it and creative your own loveable juice!....it will make your heart sing!

I carried my travel blender (see links page separately) with me and my nut straining bag and I made another favourite of mine at my mums for dinner. Kale/Celery/cucumber/lemon/salt/apple. mmmmm I made a litre and I shared it with my mum...she loved it.
I ended up staying the night at my mother's as my hair wasn't finished until 10.30pm. For breakfast I had cucumber and mint. Once I got home I made some freshly squeezed orange juice and admired my new hair style. Then after lunch I made some more green juice (the loveable bak choy juice) and drank like 2 liters as I was going out in the evening to a friends birthday. It was to be held at a comedy club..so I was definately up for that!! So I made sure I had my fill with green juice so that I would not be hungry whilst out! and it worked!! :-)
Needed some sweetness today so I made orange and raspberry...was delicious. In the evening I had a liter of water and Kale/apple/celery/sweet pepper/

Kemp Oil
Msm
Sea Kelp
Bee Pollen + Manuka Honey

Thursday 2 September 2010

Spinach/apple/celery/carrot/
Water
Tea

Still feeling positive!! My boyfriend loved the carrot juice!

Wednesday 1 September 2010

Day16-Weds

I awoke this morning to a slight sore throat....still not sure what that's about, I will continue to be observant.

I had an estatic day today..At last the sun was shining...I opened up the windows and patio doors and sat outside whilst I sipped on my green juice. Later on I manged to do some Yoga!!!..although my mind wanted to do Power Yoga, I have to admit I was a little afraid and stayed on the side of caution....but boy did I sweat!...I felt my heart palpitating for the first time in a long while, it felt great!.. whilst I was in each pose it felt right ...my heart sang out today. I honor my body for its strength. My body is amazing and all it wants to do is to be well, and function on an optimal level for me. It feels great to be now creating a healing space for ultimate healing to take place and for it to do its amazing job.  :-)

Today I consumed
water/msm/goji berries/lemon
romaine,pear,orange,lemon,cayenne,
E3 live, Kelp,
Water, Tea

Body-brushing is fantastic, your body feels so good clean after you exfoliate as you are removing dead skin cells I highly recommend it!!

Tuesday 31 August 2010

Day15-Tue

Today I felt a bit frustrated as Im gagging to start exercising. Ive been going for daily walks for the last month and finally the doctor has told me that I can start to do some light yoga....Yay!! I think thats why Ive been also feeling on edge for a while. Especially whilst doing this Juice Feast and gaining loads of energy and not being able to spend my it. Im Super excited as I will be starting my exercise routine TOMORROW!.... :-)

Today I consumed:
Broccoli, romaine, celery, pears, cayenne, watercress, cucumber, lemon, garlic
water, msm, lemon,

Supplements:
Seagreens, Udo's Choice ultimate digestive enzymes, Molkosan prebiotic drink ,

Overall I still feel great, and Im having a great time creating my juices every day. Im spending around £40.00 per week.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!
I've been having some strange dreams lately....I know for sure that you become more sensitive and aware of your feelings, you move with your emotions on a Juice Feast. As you get deeper into your Juice Feast you strip away more and more layers of yourself; inviting you to take a good look in the mirror. You get the chance to deal with the hidden and or buried parts of your personality.

I love that I'm gaining clarity of thought. The feast brings together the instinctive body and the conscious mind. On a micro scale, as your body starts to thrive on all the nutrients that your putting into your body, all this positivity is transferred onto you so that you start to feel better, then you have happier thoughts. This opens your mind and body up to all possibilites that are available to you in your life that perhaps you didn't see before. Im loving this Juice Feast!!!!!! xx

Day14-Mon

Perform this Dry Skin Brushing technique once a day just before showering!

This technique has been used for hundreds of years to boost the lymph system and remove dead skin cells from the body without removing the protective oils. Before the bath or shower, massage your body using a bath brush. The bath or shower to follow will rinse away the dead cells leaving softer smoother skin. Dry skin brushing speeds up the internal cleansing of the body and reduces the stress to kidneys, lungs, and colon, which also assists in the elimination of waste.

Benefits: The benefits of dry skin brushing include:

* tightens the skin and improves texture
* aids digestion
* helps removes cellulite
* stimulates circulation to the skin
* increases oxygenation
* increases cell renewal
* drains and cleanses the entire lymphatic system
* detoxifies the entire body
* removes dead skin layers
* strengthens the immune system
* improves exchange between cells
* reflexive stimulation of the glands
* stimulates dry skin oil production

It is really worth the few minutes a day that it takes.

Dry skin brushing is done just before a bath or shower. As the name implies it is done dry and the brush is never, ever gotten wet. Using a natural fiber brush or loofa sponge, brush skin once or twice in the same direction, across every surface of the body except the face. Do not scrub, massage, or rotate the brush on the body; just sweep it across the skin in long smooth strokes in the direction of the heart.

Standing unclothed, lightly stroke the brush across the top of the foot to the knee. Continue lightly stroking the entire body in long, light, smooth strokes, up the arms and legs. It is important to brush each surface only once. One stroke for the front of the lower leg, one for the inside, one for the outside and one for the back of the leg.

It only takes about four strokes from the foot to the knee, four strokes from the hand to the shoulder. It takes about six strokes for the upper leg.

Brush the upper legs and arms in the same manner. The trunk is lightly stroked with the target being the liver which is under the ribs on the right side.

The entire process should take no longer than a minute, and should be done while the skin is still dry.

DO NOT brush the face or other tender or sensitive areas.

DO NOT brush over irritated areas or cuts or scrapes.

Maintainance of brush:
A good quality brush can be purchased at specialty shops and health food stores.

Sunday 29 August 2010

Day13-Sun

Juice feasting is so rewarding, to the mind body and spirit. After the initial crunch, which for me is the first three days!! You immediatley feel nourished, fulfilled and wanting to create more. I feel that the action to juice or blend grants your mind the time to realise that you are gifting your body with an abundance of nutrients-minerals-and vitamins! Ive been asked on more occasions than I care to remember..."but wait a minute where do you get your protein from"? All the green juices that you are consuming contain over 50 percent protein and have a low-glyceamic effect and...wait for it.... are the most mineral dense foods easily available to you.
So Get Juicing/Blending!!...you can do nothing other than feel great :-)

David Rainoschek says, "Juice Feast as an Act of Love and Abundance"

Today I consumed:
Spinach/Berries/water
Pineapple
Spinach/apple/celery/
Water/msm/lemon

Star Tips and Instructions

Over time and a little bit of patience and splendid discovery you will intrinsically find what works better for you and you will be able to make your own juices that make you zing!!

After my morning glass of warm water and lemon or master cleanse.

I'll collect my ingredients to make my Juices. I usually have around 2lbs of leafy greens, one head of celery, cucumbers, parsley, lemon and apple. You may also use carrots/pears/pineapple/oranges,berries,mint,berries nectarines.
Then I prepare the veg and fruit for juicing/blending...washing, chopping, or peeling. I like to include the whole fruit if juicing as the core nutrients are found in the core. (Apart from oranges and lemons where I peel beforehand leaving the pith intact!)

I make good use of both my blender and my juicer. For most of my green juice I prefer to use my nut mylk bag and my blender. To start I put 1/2 cup of water into the blender and then I add the chopped celery and blend, and I keep blending more chopped vegetables and or fruit until the blender is full. Leafy greens do not need to be chopped up. Check that your blender does not overheat whilst blending, a decent blender will blend up your fruit and veg quite quickly without overheating. So you will not lose out on the vital enzymes. You will eventually end up with a think pulp. Pour this into a nut mylk bag and squeeze out all the juice held over a big bowl that will catch the juice minus the pulp, which can be used on a compost. Keep going to get up to 4 liters of juice. You will end up with some glorious tasting green vegetable juice; full of vitamins, nutrients and minerals. You may also add greener grass powders or spirulina/kelp or hemp oil. Pour this into your mason jars, screw on the lids and give it a good shake; and your good to go!!

Day11-Fri +Day12-Sat

Whoops I kinda forgot to blog yesterday!....Nothing happened in particular I read a lot, so I'll use that as an excuse....yes my head was stuck in a book for most of the day!......So I'll just include the both days.
A few days ago I decided to keep my juices simple for a couple of days like making only fruit or veg juices after experiencing a lot of bloating and gas, that way its easier for my body to assimilate the nutrients. I believe that your body, as a conscious form is able to identify exactly what is put into it, so in effect I'm making that job a whole lot easier!
Ive also started to take a teaspoon of Bee-Pollen every day.

Both days I consumed:

Lots of water
Celery,Spinach
Pineapple
Beetroot, apple, ginger,carrott
pears,greens
msm,lemon,water
Herbal Teas with honey
Bee Pollen

Thursday 26 August 2010

Day10-Thurs

Again, copious amounts of energy so stretching and going window shopping me thinks...since our anniversary is today!!!!  I really should make an effort on my part....I really should venture out early before I lose the momentum. At least I will get some exercise out of it. YEAH...its actually part of my daily walk the shops are just 5mins walk from my house.

Water/msm/lemon
Jumpstart Green Juice

Day9-Weds

Ouch what a horrible morning...Ive been so I'll this morning, Ive terrible cramps running down my entire legs and back pain like you wouldn't believe.
That lasted for about an hour and I feel much better now...well all up until around 5pm and then they returned in avengence....Ive been unable to get through any juice since lunchtime....just cant seem to drink anymore Juice, so Ive been sipping on water mostly...waiting for my body to tell me that it needs calories! I had a long hot bath and applied a hot pack to my abdomen area.....it helped!....throughout the evening the pain worsened then finally calmed down again....I understand that a lot is going on right now internally for me in terms of healing...so I have to remain patient. If my gut instinct tells me something is wrong or I feel an unfamiliar pain I will seek medical help.
Future mother-in-law (Jackie) came visiting which was nice, we had a very chatty evening.....I felt stronger and suddenly hungry, while I sipped through my green juice they... meaning the boyfriend and Jackie tucked into Jerk Mock Chicken, Few home made chips and a huge- huge bowl of salad!! The smell from the Jerk Seasoning smelt delicious and for the first time this JF felt very tempted...mmm well I soon got over it as I tucked my neck into the newspaper!(Childhood memories of a nurturing nature was the underlying cause!)
A very eventful and taxing day so early to bed....

 Today I consumed:

Spinach,pear,celery
Ginger Tea, peppermint tea
Hot Water

Raw Road To Recovery-In 2010!!

Its now August 2010 and I feel this is a good time for more creation and healing. Since my last Juice Feast in 2008, Ive suffered a stream of loss, bereavement and major surgery. BTW that story is for another day...my 1st book!
I've kick started my healing journey with yet another glorius Juice Feast. This one will be far more challenging than the last due to meds from the surgery etc...but I am up for this challenge to BEGIN AGAIN... Ive realised that I really have my work cut out for me this time around in terms of internal healing, physical exercise, and balancing my emotions and moods. Ive taken some time out of work ensure that I can truly focus on myself so that I may be better for others in the near future.
Ultimately I want to share this new chapter in my life with you so that those who have battled similar life challenges are able to feel safe and know that they are not alone and that they do better to feel better!!

So what is my challenge?
I will be Juice-Feasting for the next .........days? Ive not really decided how many days as yet but Im going for at least 14. I will attach another page which explains what Juice Feasting is. In my blog I will be recording my progress by noting my weight &
body measurements
exercise
energy levels
emotions
hours of sleep
positive changes
moods
cravings
supplements and body care

Follow my journey to ultimate health...I challenge You!

Day8-Tues

Today has been a very strange day. Ive been feeling highly sensitive and very quiet. Ive decided to let the storm just rise and go through me and to see what comes up. Havn't felt like moving about today so I stayed at home all day. It didn't matter much as it poured down with rain all day.

My mood and energy levels were good. I do feel more positive in general, and I seem to be day-dreaming a whole lot. Day3-Th

I slept really well last night, I had a dream that I was getting ready for a work trip to Los Angeles but I hadn't packed the most important things in my suitcase... the problem was that I happened to be  at the house of a colleagues who had the day off, he had arranged a BBQ that day and as his friends were arriving I was feeling more and more anxious! mmmm also I was trying to get someone to give me a lift home so that I could go and get the things that I had forgotton to pack..but everyone had started to drink... it was not happening!!
...I felt very very hungry today so Ive decided to up my intake of fruits to get a higher calorie intake.
Today I consumed:
9.30am-Warm water/cayenne pepper/lemon/
10.00am-Romaine/cucumber/celery/apple
1.00pm-Apple/ginger/
3.30pm Pear/celery/romaine/cucumber...
7.00pm Apple/beetroot/ginger
My bowel movements have been very slow...mmmm
My moods have been a lot better today, although I can feel when I get tight around the shoulders at mealtimes! lol
All in all a good day.

Day-2

Day 2...
I awoke feeling quite groggy and very thirsty. I had to force myself out of bed as I'd promised to help my mum with some admin so I wanted to get a head start on making my juices for the day; so that I could take them with me.  I made 3 juices as i figured I should be home around 5pm to make another for dinner time. I started the day with some light stretching which felt extremely good. I still am unable to stretch my stomach muscles fully, but I feel that I'm getting stronger as each day passes and now am on the road to recovery!! Looking forward to feeling much stronger so that I can continue with my yoga and fitness routine again!!
My energy levels were quite low this afternoon, I really wanted to lie down for a bit but I was playing secretary and admin superlady...so I just drank some water and reminded myself to take things easy.
I had a bit of a drama on the way home, in my haste to get to the train station on time; I got on the wrong train which was headed for central London....dahhh so my journey home took me an extra half hour than planned...so by the time I got home I was absolutely ravenous! I tell you I don't think I EVER juiced so fast in my entire life...which explains why I made that tomato/basil....
Physically I'm still experiencing bloating and the area around my stitches still gets inflammed towards late afternoon and evening. Plus I have an internal pain in my right groin area which feels like a pulled muscle. ( All part of the healing process- I hope)...however I remain observant.
I crashed on the coach after the last smoothie and watch a nice movie and caught up with my boyfriend.
Today I consumed
Spinach/celery/Apple/cucumber/ginger (my favourite)!!
carrot/spinach
apple/celery/cucumber
tomato basil.... (this was an experiment last night at dinner time, not sure i'll have this again anytime soon!)
Instead I just had Spinach/ apple/ celery
3 glasses of water
My energy levels were quite low this afternoon, I really wanted to lie down for a bit but I was playing secretary and admin superlady...so I just drank some water and reminded myself to take things easy.
To be honest I wasn't that hungry at dinner time and I had a headache and was feeling quite spacey! I know that its early days yet but Im still adjusting as my body is detoxing; its all very interesting as I'm also getting a chance to listen to my body which helps me to remain present with myself.
I am grateful today for my health, and I know that I'm getting better.

DAY-1 (Juice Feast Aug 2010)

Day 1 of my JUICE FEAST and all is well! I awoke early and started with some light stretching, then prepped a days worth of juice. (4 litres)
I made a video, which I intend to do so every now and again to help keep track of the days events and also so that you all can see what Im making and consuming on a daily basis. I dont have a video camera yet!! but will fashion what I do have for now.
so, Ive just finished the 1st video...and you will see that I dont have a lot of energy! lol  Well this is the reason Im doing this....it will be very interesting to see how the changes take effect over the next few weeks.
9.30am  -I had my fabulous Morning Jump-start Green Juice. (Kale, spinach, carrots, apple, ginger, celery, cucumber).
12.00pm- 1Romaine + 3 Bananas
3.00pm - 2Apples, 1 Beet, 6 strawberry, 1 Cucumber
5 large glasses of water.
I felt very energized after my morning green juice. At lunchtime my energy levels were pretty much the same. The juice I had at 3.00pm was so delicious! I highly recommend it!!
Around 7pm I started to feel really weird. I felt as if I had a bad case of wind, in fact I then realised that I hadn't drank any tea for the whole day! I felt a strange movement moving through my upper intestines; that seemed to go no-where. I promptly drank a large cup of fennel and lemon tea. This pain went on for another 2 hours. I ran a warm bath and rested for a bit. Eventually it went away. In hindsight it could have been stress and instant detox effects, who knows.. Interestingly enough Ive not been No2 today!!
Well, I'm glad that whole entire nightmare is over and I do hope that it does not return! But on a plus note I do feel better other than that. I guess you cant ever predict how your body will respond to the detox effects. My energy levels have redeemed :-) and so now I will read myself to sleep!
Let the challenge begin....I'm ready!
